Scalloped Tomatoes

Ingredients
  • 3 1/2 cups Furmano's Stewed Tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon Oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon Basil
  • 1/2 cup Onions, Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • As Needed Black Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Arrowroot
  • 1 tablespoon Cold Water
Preparation
  1. Combine Furmano's stewed tomatoes, oregano, basil, onions, salt, pepper and sugar.
  2. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer uncovered 15 minutes.
  3. Add butter.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together arrowroot and cold water and stir into tomato mixture.
  5. Continue cooking until thickened.

Tip: If a thicker consistency is desired, remove crusts from a few slices of bread, then cut bread into small cubes and add to tomatoes just before serving.
